Tampines North, Punggol Matilda and Bidari were the three new towns designated for further development in the Draft Master Plan 2013, and they are where the Housing Development Board will launch more projects very soon. The Board will launch projects in Tampines North and Punggol Matilda in the latter half of 2014 and in Bidadari in the latter half of 2015. These launches follow hard on the heels of two other housing projects, Matilda Edge and the Verandah Matilda, in Punggol Matilda, launched in a Build to Order manner in September 2013.
HDB Starting to built more homes
The Housing Development Board said that preliminary ground work on the development for the three new housing areas has already begun and when the three projects are completely developed they should yield around 40,000 new homes for Singapore’s people.
Each of the four new housing districts in Tampines North will feature themed housing types. West Park District the first parcel that will launch will comprise 1,500 homes, which will include 50 “3 Gen” flats, homes specifically designed to allow extended families. For example Grandparents, parents and children to all live under the same roof.
A bus inter change will be integrated into the new mixed commercial and residential use development, called the Tampines North Commercial hub, which will shortly be built.
HDB to launch serveral BTO Projects in Singapore
The Housing Development Board will launch another Build to Order project in July 2014 at Punggol Matilda. This exciting project will offer over 1,000 housing units with many different types of flat from two roomed to five roomed apartments, plus the development will also have a waterfront promenade and various recreation facilities. Punggol Matilda, when it is fully developed will provide 8,000 flats providing around 28,000 residents with a waterfront home very unusual for Public Housing.
Nearly 80% of the flats in both the earlier Build to Order Punggol Matilda projects had already been booked by the middle of May 2014 and the selection processes are currently being carried out for The Verandah@Matilda, both the projects have estimated completion dates in 2017.
A 10 hectare park and a mixed public housing and commercial development, which will be called the Market Square is to be added to the third area, the Bidadari Estate.
ERA Realty’s Key Executive Officer, Eugene Li said that the town is remarkable because of its “excellent location” on the city’s fringe and that it is likely that it will receive the most buyer interest as some people are already saying that it is the next Bishan. He further said that these three developments mean that first time Housing Development Board buyers will be so spoiled for choice that they will take a chance on a Build to Order flat before they try for a resale flat, with resale flat prices now stabilizing.
